There’s nothing better than a delicious seasonal special. Honest Bread, our bakery in Nicosia, has a few to share throughout the year to get you into the seasonal mood, with homemade bakes during Easter, Christmas and beyond.
We sat down with Danae from our Honest Bread team to find out more about these delicious seasonal specials. Read on to find out what she had to say.
The main objective when it comes to our seasonal specials at our bakery in Nicosia, is actually the ingredient rather than a specific season. We like to take advantage of the ingredients that each season has to offer, this ensures our breads and pastries are fresh and at their best.
Yes, as mentioned our bakery in Nicosia prides itself on producing fresh bread and therefore including seasonal specials highlights our drive for fresh products. As well as this though, seasonal specials allow us to get creative with recipes, explore ingredients that we don’t often get to work with and enhance our menu. We love the opportunities each special gives us.
For Christmas our bakery in Nicosia offers panettone with dark chocolate buttons and orange peels, it’s the taste of Christmas all packed into one delicious sweet treat.
We also make our vegan rye and tahini melomakarona and salted dark chocolate rye cookies that are super juicy and to die for, year in, year out.
For Easter we make chocolate Tsoureki and flavourful laganas for Monday of Lent - these always go down a treat with our customers.
Our seasonal specials are made every Saturday. Availability depends on how long certain ingredients are in season for.
For example, during November and December time we make pumpkin sourdough and a vegan pumpkin and mushroom pie. This stays on our daily menu until the pumpkin season finishes.
In terms of Christmas specials they are available from the first week of December up until 31st December.
For me it would definitely be our Honest Bread panettone, as we really make it our own, specially pairing it alongside our sourdough starter. It requires a lot of time and patience to make and that is why it’s one of my favourites.
Another favourite of mine is our brie and asparagus Danish, which we make at our bakery in Nicosia when asparagus is in season and blooming in Cyprus.
Our berries and cream Danishes are also up there for me, we make them whenever the berries are in season and they always sell out quickly.
Our berries and cream Danish is very popular as mentioned before, it always sells out when it’s on our Saturday specials menu.
For a more savoury treat, I would say our cherry tomatoes and halloumi sourdough bread is a fan favourite.
Some daily seasonal specials are available via delivery. Saturday specials are only available in our bakery in Nicosia, so be sure to get down to us on Saturday’s as soon as possible, because once they’re gone we don’t make anymore for the day.

We’re really looking forward to the citrus season! We don’t have any specific ideas in mind yet, maybe orange and almond sourdough bread, or a lemon cheesecake cruffin would be right up our street at Honest Bread.
